Really Good Emails is the internet’s premier showcase of beautiful and innovative email design, with an impressively curated collection of designs from all over the world in a completely free and open format. They teamed up with me to strengthen their playful brand tone through a holistic approach of illustration, iconography, and design.
In partnership with an email personalization software, Really Good Emails included dynamic image-based content in their digital newsletters. I worked to create illustrations to enhance that dynamic content, be it a countdown timer, email recipient callout, or something else.
Early on, we identified the Really Good Emails logo “smiley” as a recognizable visual that was emblematic of the brand’s voice and a great seed for future illustration. Using the basis of a simple, friendly smile, I created a completely modular character illustration system that enabled us to pick elements from a premade library of outfits, accessories, and hair styles to create numerous unique characters on-demand.
Over a span of multiple years, I also had the pleasure of creating various merchandise for giveaways, events, and UNSPAM – Really Good Emails’ annual industry event.
